Scotch Pine, Douglas Fir, Fraser Fir, Colorado Blue  Spruce, and White Pine are popular varieties used for plantation Christmas Tree production today.   Balsam Fir, Concolor Fir, Canaan Fir, Englemann Spruce, White Spruce, and Norway Spruce are lesser known Christmas Tree varieties, but they are still widely used in many areas of the country.  White Pine, Norway Spruce, American Red Pine, Serbian Spruce, and Canadian Hemlock are very popular varieties for landscape and B&B production.  For the most economical use of your land, we suggest that you plant a variety of species.  It also makes good sense to plants several species from a marketing standpoint.
