ABOUT CARINO
NURSERIES

James L. Carino and Laura Carino |
CARINO NURSERIES, a third generation family run
business, was founded by the late A.F. Carino in 1946.
In the beginning, the nursery was used primarily
to supply planting stock for the reclaimed areas of the
Carino surface mining operations.
As time went on, it gradually developed into one
of the largest commercial bareroot seedling nurseries in
the country. |
About the same time in 1946, Mr. Carino
began his Fresh-Cut Christmas Tree operation by planting Scotch
Pine seedlings on areas of the various mining properties, which
were not disturbed by the mining.
At one time, Carino Nurseries was one of the ten largest
growers of Christmas trees in the United States!
Today, Carino Nurseries continues to be
operated by members of the Carino family.
In the past, James L. Carino, son of A.F. Carino,
envisioned the production of the finest planting stock and
Christmas trees in the industry. Today, central among his goals which he shares with his
daughter Laura Carino Musser and nephew Douglas Wilhide, is the
continued fulfillment of those desires.
Carino Nurseries is located in Indiana
County, Pennsylvania, the Christmas tree capital of the world
which is approximately 70 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

MISSION STATEMENT:
Since our humble beginnings in 1946, we have always stated and
demonstrated our goal to be the best producer and shipper of
bareroot nursery stock in America.
Now, some 60 years later, into our 3rd
generation, we feel that we have advanced beyond our most
ambitious dreams, but we will continue to pursue our ultimate
goal by working hard, using the latest technology, research and
management techniques as we endeavor to further distance
ourselves from our nearest competition.
