Canaan Fir

Closely related to both the Fraser and Balsam Fir varieties.   Seed to grow this variety is collected from areas near the Canaan Valley in West Virginia at elevations of 3200-4000 feet.  It is more tolerant to wet sites than Fraser Fir and will withstand slightly drier areas as well.  Bud break appears to occur later making this variety less susceptible to late Spring frosts.
