Fraser Fir (Ayers) 5 yr. transplants (2-3)

Seed for this excellent strain was collected from the Wayne Ayers seed orchard in Mitchell County, N.C.  Seed orchard trees are selected specimens grown mostly from seed collected from Roan Mountain and Mt. Rogers.  Favorable traits appear to be more uniformity, faster growth rate, deeper green color, and heavier bud sets.
